Varietal Tasting. This one tells the story of a particular grape variety. Using wines from a range of growing regions, I’ll illustrate the ways in which climate, geography, wine making philosophy and techniques, etc influence the wine in the glass. You will be a pro with the grape by the end!

Sense of a Place. This tasting focuses on a single wine growing region, state, or even country. We’ll use the grape varieties grown that the area to explore climate & culture. The French term “terrior” refers to all of the unique qualities in a wine that gives it a sense of the place where the grapes are grown and the wine made.

Master the Art of Tasting Wine. I’ll choose a selection of wines specifically designed to take you through a systematic approach to tasting. We’ll start with what you see, then move to smell, and finally, what you taste. This tasting really gets inside the wine and illustrates what is going on with the aromatics and structure of wine, and why. It tells you many of the ways that the winemaker can influence the wine in the glass, like aging the wine in an oak barrel. You can eventually develop your tasting to evaluate quality and detect flaws in wine.
